In our last blog we discussed a few tips on how to keep your window air conditioner running smoothly. There are many things that you can do to ensure that your air conditioner will work well and keep you cool, without having to amp up your energy costs. At Weston Bros Heating and Cooling we do more than just sell and install air conditioners, our goal is to help you to make the most out of your investment. That is why our Queens window air conditioner installation experts have come up with these last few tips on how to maintain your window unit air conditioner:
- In our last blog we discussed cleaning your condenser coils at the beginning of the season. While that is a very important step, there is still one more thing that you should do for your condenser coils --check them periodically for ice build up. This can happen when you try to use your air conditioner when it is too cold outside. You only want to use your air conditioner when the outside temperature is 60° or higher.
- Does your air conditioner give off a musty odor? There may be mold growing inside your unit. That is why at the beginning of the season, you should always thoroughly clean it with either detergent and warm water or white vinegar.
- It is important to remember to always unplug your air conditioner before performing any of these maintenance tasks.
Failing to perform proper maintenance of your air conditioner will greatly shorten its life and cause you to have higher energy bills than you need to. Protect your investment and keep your utility bills low by utilizing these maintenance tips.
